Unable to register .us domain

  I am trying to register an available “.us” domain and getting a message:

  Someone (maybe you?) already registered asdfghasdfg.us, but the domain is not pointing to WordPress.com.

  Can you register .us domains through wordpress?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  No you cannot register one through WordPress.com

  Before Upgrading – Important Notes
  WordPress.com supports registering domains with the extensions .com, .org, .net, or .me. You can still map domains with other extensions to your blog – you just have to register them with another registrar and then map them to your blog. The same goes if you already have a domain registered. Registering a domain through WordPress.com is much easier, but it’s not required. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/

  If you do buy a .us domain from another provider then you will need Staff to provide a zone record. Map an existing domain (one you already own) to your WordPress.com blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
