Unable to remove parent category from slug with permalinks
-
My website has recipes based on a parent and child category, such as Slow Cooker Recipes -> Bread -> Post Name.
Currently the url is like this:
Basic Brown Bread
This is a combination of the Parent Category, then Child Category PLUS Parent Category, then the Post Name.
I don’t want the duplication, and ideally would like the Child Category PLUS Parent Category combination as this works very well.
So this would be ideal:
Basic Brown Bread
How can I do this?
My Permalink structure is Custom -> /%category%/%postname%/
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry that didn’t work…
Current defaults to “/slow-cooker-recipes/bread-slow-cooker-recipes/basic-brown-bread/”
I want the default to be “/bread-slow-cooker-recipes/basic-brown-bread/”
Both work due to category resolution.

UPDATE: I realised the child category was being combined once again (duplicated) with the parent category because I had another Parent Category called “Bread”.
My slug using /%Category%/ is now “/slow-cooker-recipes/bread/” which is better than the long slug I had previously.
I’ll leave this post here as it may help someone! I struggled to realise the issue!
