Unable to renew Domain Mapping

Our domain mapping expires tomorrow. When we attempt to renew we get the error message “This subscription was originally purchased by another user. Please ask the subscription owner to renew the subscription.” We do not know which account originally purchased the account, and need assistance to enable the renewal of the domain mapping.

The domain mapping is now expired, and we still have no ability to renew. It seems clear that this will not be resolved without intervention from WordPress staff.

For anyone else facing this trouble, we ended up determining the owner of the website by attempting to change anyone with an admin role to an editor role (the owner cannot be demoted from admin), logging in to that account and transferring ownership of the site to someone else. That someone else was then able to renew the mapping without the same error.
I’ve never had to fight so hard to give a company money for a service they provide.
