"Unable to request a code via SMS right now. Please try again after one minute."

I am trying to disable two-step authentication, and I keep getting the error message in the subject line, “Unable to request a code via SMS right now. Please try again after one minute.”
I’ve waited and tried repeatedly and keep getting the same issue. I’ve even signed out and signed in using an SMS-delivered code in-between failed attempts, so I know it’s not an issue with WordPress not being able to send a code via SMS in principle. Is that part of the site’s security system just broken?

Hi there,
If you wish to disable two-step authentication, instead of waiting for an SMS message, you can instead use a code from your list of backup codes if you have printed them already.
You can also generate new codes, and use those instead: https://wordpress.com/support/security/two-step-authentication/#backup-codes
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
