Unable to set own domain name with personal plan
-
WordPress shows a custom domain name as a feature of the Personal plan, but when I tried to select one it wouldn’t let me unless I upgraded to Premium. Why?
p.s. The only way to get help was to set up a temporary account!!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m not seeing any purchases associated with the WordPress.com user account you are posting from. This could mean that you purchased the Personal plan with a different WordPress.com user account, or that the purchase attempt did not actually go through initially.

Hi rootjosh, the issue is the following (I think there’s a bug in the website code). I am seeing exactly the same thing when trying to purchase a new custom domain with a Personal plan.
When going through the wizard to create a site, when I enter my domain name (which is available), the site states “Included in WordPress.com Premium” and is only permitting me to Upgrade to Premium.
The website doesn’t support registration of a new custom domain under the Personal plan, which should be supported. Here is a screenshot of an example with a dummy domain:

Thank you. -
Actually, I think I figured this out.
If you click on “Upgrade” you are prompted to choose your plan (and Personal works fine). The promo text “Included in WordPress.com Premium” is very misleading and should be changed.

Hi thegoodcards
Thank you very much for your help. You’re right about the misleading text!
