unable to sign up

    I tried to sign up with the business plan but it kept giving me a payment error while I tried to use my AMEX card.

    The site I need help with is hershpitroda5586.wordpress.com.

    Hi there!

    When you try to make a purchase, Amex isn’t allowing the transaction – this could be due to an extra security layer on their end or they may not auto-approve new charges.

    Reach out to Amex to see why they’re not allowing those charges and they should be able to clear up the problem for you.

    I spoke to AMEX and they said there are no problems at their end.
    its gotta be something at WordPress that isn’t allowing me to pay.
    Is there a customer service number I can reach out to?

  • Hi Hersh,

    The problem is that we’re not receiving authentication via 3D Secure – after submitting the payment on our end you should be getting redirected to a page managed by AMEX where you need to enter a one-time PIN to complete the transaction.

    Did you complete the process I described above? If you did, then it means the authentication wasn’t sent to our payment processor from 3D Secure after you submitted it, so the transaction couldn’t be completed.

    We have no control over the authentication process – that’s between AMEX and the 3D Secure service.

    Is there a customer service number I can reach out to?

    You are being helped by the WordPress.com customer support team, as indicated by the “Staff” labels under my and helper-heroponriki’s usernames. We don’t provide phone support on WordPress.com, so there’s no number you can call.

    Amex said their card is working just fine and I have used it on other portals since then.

    Just that I am unable to make the purchase on WordPress.
    And I can only use the company card.

    Is there any other way?
    PayPal?

    Any discount code you can give me will be helpful

    Its not showing as an option . May be its not activated for India.
    I tried everything. its just not allowing me to sign up. is there is a way your manager can help us onboard thru screenshare or over a call it will be the only way forward.

    As @kokkieh explained above, there is nothing we can do on our end to help with this. Please reach back to Amex for more information.

    You can also try another credit/debit card, if possible.

    Hey,

    I have to use the AMEX card as its the company card.
    2) I have checked with AMEX and the card works fine.

    My feeling is that you should check with your provider, I believe its Stripe.

    Amex should be supported.

  • As my colleagues already explained the issue is not on our end. It’s the authentication that AMEX is using.

    Please read @kokkieh’s reply above and reach out to your card issuer explaining them the situation.

    No, that is not something that we would provide. If PayPal is shown as an option at checkout (it’s not available for every country), then you can remit payment that way. If you don’t see PayPal as an option, then you can’t use it to pay for your plan.

    You will need to work with Amex here and explain the error when trying to make a purchase as there’s nothing we can do on our end to change or affect the response we get from Amex when you try to make a purchase.

    I tried with another card ( Visa) and its still didn’t work. i am not sure how i can go ahead and buy this ?

    I just looked into our internal logs and it appears that the last payment attempt (that failed) was made using the American Express card. So we’re basically not seeing a payment attempt made using a Visa card.

    Could you try the following steps, please?

    1. Clear your browser cache or log in to WordPress.com using a different browser than the one you normally use. Here’s how to clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
    2. After clearing the browser cache or logging in from a different browser, please try to pay again.

    If you face issues again, let us know here and we will check again.

    I tried that. Still no luck. Do you think its an issue with my user name or account? Can you delete it and i ll create it again?

  • Hi there,

    It’s not an issue with your account. I just saw the second attempt with that other card of yours and the error points to an authentication issue with your card issuer.

    So, the only way to fix this issue is to talk with your bank/card issuer. You need to make sure that your cards are valid for online and international transactions.
