Unable to Update JetPack and ‘You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.’

A few months ago, my plug in Jetpack needed updating. When I attempted to to log in, I was not able to. I contacted my server, Bluehost and they were able to get me to log in into WordPress. When I got into my Dashboard, my user name was completely different. I was able to access my blog and I did not see any changes to it. The screen/format I had previously used (blue main page) was different with where I had previously logged in. Bluehost had me use my url/wp-admin instead of logging into wordpress.com. When I try to log in on wordpress it says my user name or email is not found and no account is connected with it. Anyways, when I log into url//wp-admin I get access to my dashboard. And then I click Jetpack and go to updates. When I click update it opens a new window to wordpress.com and says ‘You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.’ And Jetpack cannot be updated. Please help! I hope I explained this clearly. This is very worrisome and confusing to me.

  • Hi there,

What is the URL of the site you’re working on? The questionsc84e1ff87b account you’re using to post here has never had any sites connected to it via Jetpack.

So it sounds like you might have another WordPress.com username account that owns your Jetpack connection in this case.

When I got into my Dashboard, my user name was completely different.

The admin username for your WordPress installation at Bluehost and your WordPress.com account username will be completely different, as those are two completely different and separate accounts.

When you connect Jetpack to a self-hosted WordPress site, what you’re in effect doing is giving a WordPress.com username permission to take actions on the site as your admin user account, but it stays two completely separate accounts, each with their own unique login credentials.

    Hello.
And to clarify, up until 3 months ago….I could log into my wordpress.com with either my user name (painandsimple9898) or my email address connected with my blog. And now it says that no account is found with this email or username.

The username that I log in with through the url/admin-wp bluehost provided is through my personal gmail.

Even now, to answer this forum question….I had to log in. It said that no username or email was connected with the account. I had to get them to send me a link, which was sent to my Blog email. And when I hit the “My Site” button on this page it says, “No account connected with this site yet.”

It is like my url/site has been wiped clean. But it is still up and running live on online.

That username does not exist in our database. Your site is connected to a different WordPress.com account.
What email address were you using to log in? (it will be visible only to the WordPress.com staff). You should be able to login? If you remember that one, you can reset your password from here:

If you need more help, you can check out this page and fill out the Account Recovery form to regain access to the account:
