Unable to upgrade Jetpack
-
Hello,
I’m trying to connect Jetpack to my WP site in order to be able to configure Google Analytics, but during the process, I got the upgrade button instead of “Configure” and I’m unable to upgrade, so I can finish the configuration.
Any advice, please?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Can you share some more details what you mean by unable to upgrade? Do you mean you’re running into an error when you try to upgrade Jetpack, or do you mean you only want to use the free version of Jetpack, not the paid version?
If it’s the latter, then you won’t be able to connect Google Analytics via Jetpack. The free version of Jetpack includes an option to verify with Google Search Console, but the option to link with Google Analytics is only available on the Jetpack Security and Jetpack Complete plans.
In that case, you might want to look at Google’s own Site Kit plugin instead to integrate Google Analytics on your site:

Hi, thanks for your feedback.
Yes, I’m facing an error while trying to upgrade, this is the notification I’m getting on the screen: Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection

Okay, so the problem is with the Jetpack connection :)
Based on Jetpack’s debugger at https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/?url=https://theexpresseshop.com, Jetpack is unable to communicate with your site because XML-RPC is giving a 404 error. And when I try to view that file on your site at https://theexpresseshop.com/xmlrpc.php it only gives a blank page.
What that means is the service that allows Jetpack to communicate with your site is disabled on your server. Please contact your hosting provider and ask them to enable XML-RPC, or if you’ve perhaps disabled it via a security plugin on your site, enable it again, and the Jetpack connection should start working again.
