Unable to upgrade plan

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, a few weeks ago, I purchased the Commerce plan. I quickly realized it was more robust than what I needed for my new small business. I cancelled the plan and was hoping to go back to the Premium plan, but I’m getting this error: Sorry that plan is not compatible with this site.

My domain is still attached, I’m not sure what the problem is.

    Thank you!

    Hi there!

I checked your site and figured out what’s going on. Since you upgraded to the WordPress.com eCommerce plan, some features were activated on your site (like the ability to install plugins and upload themes, real-time automatic backups, and many more).

When the eCommerce plan was canceled, those features were not automatically fully removed, which is why you weren’t able to upgrade to Premium again, as the Premium plan wouldn’t allow the features that are still sort of active on your site.

I can revert the site fully so your site goes to the state it was in before you upgraded to the eCommerce plan. Please review the information here to understand what will happen. Once you’ve read it, please confirm, and I’ll revert the site fully so that you can upgrade to the WordPress.com Premium plan.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

Thank you! I’m happy to go back to the freebie, so I can upgrade. The only thing I don’t want to lose is my domain, but that shouldn’t be a problem since that’s been in place for years.

    I appreciate your help!

  • Hi @smcampbell616! I’ve started that downgrade process for you, and you should be able to add Premium when you’re ready.
