unable to use the read more option

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
Am in the process of creating my blog https://tinglingtastebudsweb.wordpress.com/ and the theme i’ve chosen is dyad2. The problem i’m facing is that while editing my blogs or content on any page if i try to insert the read more option it does not appear on the main site/page. The hyphenated line with more although continues to be visible in edit mode.
Is this something that can be fixed or is this some problem with the theme i’v chosen?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @tinglingtastebuds2016!

Is the problem that the post is not being stopped in the right spot? Or that there’s no link visible? Dyad 2 (because of the smaller grid area it uses) doesn’t display a link, but it should trim your post down to the More Tag (provided it’s early enough in the post).

If it helps, you can link to a post that’s giving you trouble – happy to take a look :)

    Hi,
Thanks for the response, the problem is that there is no link visible on the page even though in the edit mode i can see the read more tag i inserted.

You can try visiting the page https://tinglingtastebudsweb.wordpress.com/restaurant-reviews/

In this post i have a read more tag added after the first paragraph(para ends with hunger cravings) but like i said it’s only visible in edit mode and not visible on the main public page :(

Hope you can help with this

  • I see – More Tags on pages are a little different (compared to More Tags on posts).

The More Tag won’t show up on the post/page itself – it’s used on things like the blog page, or category pages, or if you have a theme that uses something like a grid format to display a group of pages, it might appear there.

On the actual page itself though, if you want to break up the content, you can use the Next Page tag:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/nextpage/

Give that a try, and let me know how it goes!
