Unable to verify site with BING even though the code was entered correctly.

  Hello all,

  I am still unable to verify our site with BING. Followed all instructions to the letter: http://www.bing.com/webmaster/help/how-to-verify-ownership-of-your-site-afcfefc6 and WordPress instructions: http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#bing-webmaster-center.

  Their customer support said that I entered the code correctly:

  “Checking on the screenshot you provided, we are able to verify that you are correctly pasting the code. Since this is not being detected by Bing, we would also like to confirm if we are being blocked from your end as this is one possible reason on why we are unable to verify it.” — BING

  BING is not being blocked. There is no way to use BING’s other options. BING also seems to be unable to generate a new code.

  Could a member of the staff help me out?

  So you definitely entered the Bing code from option 2 of Verify Ownership in the Bing Webmaster Page, and you put that in Tools – Bing Webmaster?

  Thank you for writing and for flagging this for the staff. Appreciate it!

  I entered the only option available in Tools — Option 3: Add CNAME record to DNS. As far as I know, I have no access to option 2 or option 1.

  BING’s customer support looked at my screenshot on the Tools page and verified I entered their code correctly.

  Hi there,

  If you are trying to authenticate your site with Bing, there is no CNAME or DNS involved. You simply get the code from Bing and then go to your blog’s Dashboard and under Tools > Available tools, you paste the meta tag information you received from Bing.

  It will look like this:

  Those were BING’s terms in their option 3. Option 1 and 2 were not available. I copied and pasted the code, exactly as you demonstrated, then made a screenshot of the Tools page and showed to them. They verified that I entered the code correctly. But it does not work.
