Unable to Write Directly in the Desktop App – Being directed to Browser
-
I am unable to start a post directly in the Desktop app. It is directing me to the browser, saying that one of the plugins is preventing from editing content in the app.

Hi there,
If the app reports that there is a plugin preventing you to edit, have you managed to identify which one. You can disable all your plugins and activate one at a time until you find out which one is causing the error, then maybe staff can troubleshoot what is happening with the plugin. That would be good information to have when they come to assist you.

Hi there,
This is expected for Jetpack-connected sites like you have.
The desktop app is essentially just the WordPress.com interface inside a software wrapper that turns it into an app, so only stuff that exist in the WordPress.com interface can be used inside the desktop app. And while we have a native version of the block editor on WordPress.com sites, on a self-hosted site the editor only exists in WP-Admin, so the app then directs you to the browser where you’ll access the editor in WP-Admin on your site instead.
You’ll notice the same thing if you go to WordPress.com ->My Site ->Posts. Add a new post from there, and you’ll see it opens a new browser tab at the WP-Admin editor, rather than taking you to the WordPress.com editor at https://wordpress.com/post/
