Unapproved Advertising

My readers have informed me that there are advertisements being shown at the bottom of my blogs. Some of these ads have been for things I in no way support. I have given no permission for ads to be shown on my blog for anything, especially products such as those that have been shown. How can we fix this problem?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry to say that your problem stems from registering an account and blog without reading the Terms of Service carefully. Your consent re: advertising was given when you clicked to create the account.

To off-set the costs of providing free hosting to millions of bloggers, WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read the advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all.

Note to eliminate all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs we can purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

Thanks for letting me know. Like you said, I didn’t realize that when going over the terms of use. Seems I’ll be looking for another option. I don’t think it would bother me so much if there was a way to disapprove certain ads. My readers don’t visit my blog to learn about alcoholic beverages, which is what they are seeing all too often from what I’m learning.
Thanks so much for all of your help!!

The alcohol ads are not placed by WordPress.com. Your visitors need to disable their browser addons and extensions. The only ads that WordPress.com places are distinguished by this About These Ads link.
