Unauthorised charges by WordPress

I have no wordpress.com account since some time last summer (2024) when I decided to withdraw entirely from WordPress. Not having an account, I don’t have any means to contact you accept through this. If necessary, please re-route this message to those who can attend to it.

In January 2024 I created three domains in WordPress, as follows

    14th handwrytten.uk
    14th wordswright.uk
    18th ednadorisbridge.uk

Last summer I decide not to continue with these projects, and systematically worked through all assets on WordPress, unpublishing and deleting sites, deleting redirects etc, cancelling and releasing domain names (immediately, not at next renewal), deleted payment methods, deleted WordPress accounts, etc etc.

There should not have been any question of any of those domain names being renewed. Indeed in the past few days I have received emails from Nominet stating that expiry is imminent.

However, on the 14 February 2025 WordPress charged my bank account £13.20, which is i believe your charge for renewal of domain.

Please provide either a justification or a refund.

It is grotesquely difficult to contact WordPress to speak to a human even with an account. The stupid AI bot says I cannot be connected to a human because I don’t have a paid plan. I have created this free account as it is the only way I have found to raise my issue at all. Why do I have to pay for an account so that I can complain that I have been charged for a domain when I have neither account nor domain.

You created the account superpeanut31aaec5696 only a few minutes ago, so it cannot own domains you bought about a year ago.

As you have a bought these domains, you have a Transaction ID you must use to restore access to the account owning those domains – https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#verify-your-account-ownership

Once logged in to that account you’ll be able to manage your purchases and initiate a refund.

Startmees, superpeanut … exists only so I can access help. Without an account, there is no way at all to access any support regarding my previous account (closed last summer, after cancelling the domains). And to speak with a human, I have to have a paid account. Because the previous account was closed last summer, I have no access to the records regarding domains, transactions, so I have no hard information except the domain names. I fail to see how WordPress.com can charge me for a domain that doesn’t now exist, on an account that doesn’t exist. Can anyone give me an email address to contact the accounts team at WordPress ?

When you closed that account all purchases you made over here were also cancelled. So that charge is made on another account you still have over here. To find out more go to https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/

Those domains are registered by a third party Key-Systems GmbH but they all expired last month. You must contact support of your registrar.
