Hello, I am posting this because I saw an unauthorized charge for $99 on my credit card. What is the reason for this? I don’t recall signing up for anything or giving you my credit card in the first place.

    Please elaborate and refund me…

    Thank you

    WP.com: Yes

    Hi there!

I checked your account, but I don’t see any recent payments. If you believe you were charged by us, you must have a different WordPress.com account where the transaction occurred.

Could you please enter the charge details on https://wpchrg.wordpress.com to see what it was for? You can also submit the details to our billing team for review. They will email you to help you with this further.

    Regards

Thank you for your reply. I logged into my account and it seems I have this strange URL that is considered a website?

My actual website is “wvanskaik.com”, which I am using WordPress to build my website, but I don’t recall this URL at all. Do I need it to keep my website active? Because I already have a hosting account.

I sent a ticket regarding the charge, but please be more clear if you can and where I can cancel this payment for the future.

I don’t believe I’ve had this charge in the 8 years since having this website.

    Thanks for clarifying.

To avoid confusion, it’s essential to understand three different versions of “WordPress”:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org, the open-source project where you can obtain the software to use on your chosen hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software, which is the platform you are currently contacting.

The URL “box5341.temp.domains/~wvanskai/” is a temporary domain provided by Bluehost before a domain name is assigned to the hosting account. It appeared under your account because you connected that Bluehost-hosted WordPress site to your WordPress.com account through the Jetpack plugin in 2020. Since the site no longer exists, I have removed it from your @wvanskaikd890f973b5 account.

Regarding the domain wvanskaik.com, that is tied to a different WordPress.com account you’re logged into and had a recent renewal of the plan and domain connection that was recently cancelled and refunded. The domain itself is registered with Namecheap, but the connection allowed the use of that domain on the WordPress.com site. Since the domain nameservers aren’t pointing to a WordPress.com hosted site, the plan was not needed.

I hope this explanation clears things up! Let us know if you have any other questions.
