I need WordPress Tech Support to contact me. We had an employee leave our business and this person is holding our business WordPress account “hostage” and in violation of state laws regarding Work Product. I can prove we are the business and rightful owner of the account but I need to get this user blocked from our account and have the Administrative Role transferred to one of our business email accounts.

Blogs at WordPress.com are the property of the users who register them, not the companies they represent.
I am sorry, but if the owner is refusing to relinquish the blog to you, they are will within their rights here.

That’s inaccurate. When the employee was paid to do the work, it falls under Work Product and at the dissolution of the working contract all company products and information must be returned to the owner – in the state of Colorado that’s the employer and/or company – before final payroll is issued.
-
That is not inaccurate, it is our company’s policy, established for the protection of our users and their property.
and at the dissolution of the working contract all company products and information must be returned to the owner
At which point, the owner of the blog should have transferred ownership of the blog to you: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
You’ll need to get in touch with the blog’s owner about this.

The assets used to build the site are the property of the gallery. The employee designed the site using company equipment, on company time and has already been compensated for their work. If administrative control of the site is not turned over to the gallery, its proper and lawful owner, this situation will be considered theft.
I am asking to have a conversation with someone who works for WordPress to find a resolution to this matter. The contact information for the gallery is on the site and I welcome him or her to call me.
Thank you.

You were conversing with Staff (macmanx) above. Note also that there is no phone support here. The blog belongs to the person who registered the blog. In accord with WordPress.com policy which only requires an email address for registration of a username account, the person who owns the blog is the person with the username account who registered the blog and who provided the email address the blog is associated with.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/Note that Staff can transfer the blog for you, if an only if they receive a request to do so from the username account who owns the blog which they registered. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Your issue is with the ex-employee. That’s who you need to deal with, in court if necessary.

Right and I hop that Volunteers will now stop posting into this thread as everything that can be said has already been said.
