Unauthorized Advertorial

I did not give permission for this advertorial integrated as a blog post (HUGE) to appear on the site. It is distracting the undermines blog content. I would like you to remove it. I do not mind it if you interpolate small adverts onto the site. This is okay. But a massive advertorial the size of a blog and up front to confuses.

Can you confirm WordPress is responsible and it is one of your adverts? If not whose advert is it and how can I remove it.

If it is WordPress Advertorial I would like you to remove it as a blog. You can according to our agreement upload a small version of the advertorial and run it on the site.

Let me know asap as this diminishes the blog`s credibility.

Huge blog posts advertorial blog posts are charged for!

  • Hey there, I can’t see the advertisement currently, but I do know free sites do give permission to show ads in our TOS. The ads help us cover our costs to host your site:
    https://wordpress.com/support/no-ads/

If you can get a screenshot, we can confirm whether the ad comes from our side. Here’s how to make a screenshot:
    https://wordpress.com/support/make-a-screenshot/

Then you can upload it here:
    https://wordpress.com/media

Please update us here when that’s ready, and we’ll let you know if it’s ours.

Also, if you just want to get rid of ads, the Personal plan will do that: it removes all ads, gives you more space for uploads, gives you access to direct support, and even includes a custom domain registration or transfer if you’re interested.

    Hoping this helps!

This is not an ADVERT. I am fine with that and have over the past 5 years or so had adverts on the margin of the blog. I am fine with that.

This is an ADVERTORIAL embedded as a post on the blog. It runs about 50 lines.

As well as distracting and offensive it borders on passing off as I myself run tutorials etc. People might mistake this for something which I am offering and/or with which I am affiliated.

I think it is an impertinence and worse bullying of sorts. I resent it!

Extorting money from elderly entrepreneurs (female) is so 1950s!!!

I think this is extortion. They have done a provocative thing to force into buying space. It is provocative and contravenes their own rules which apply to adverts and not advertorials.

    What do I do?

You have an open support email with WordPress.com support (ticket number 4161983) with the subject line of www.markettowns.wordpress.com that you replied to yesterday.

Any other emails you’re receiving are related to your public forums post here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/unauthorized-advertorial/

We recommend you keep your correspondence to email as that’s the best way to help you here. Thanks.

I would like you to remove the advertorial. I am more than willing to comply and allow transient adverts on the margin of the blog but this advertorial is embedeed as a blog post.

Furthermore it passes off as I myself offer tutorials etc. on a variety of subjects. One of the tutorials has been uploaded on the blog.

I am within my rights in asking this and asking it without having a Paid Site!!

  • We run ads on free sites to keep them free, and that includes these sponsored posts which are clearly denoted with “Sponsored Post” at the top: https://wordpress.com/support/no-ads/

To remove ads, simply purchase any paid plan: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

So can you confirm if I PURCHASE a Paid Plan can I remove that disgusting advertorial? As a Paid Plan Holder can we remove your own sponsored posts as well as advertorials.

By the way, I am age 78. You can shout me down until Kingdom Come.

I was cool with the adverts in the blog margin as and when they appeared.

I think this 50 line advertorial disgraces you, me and the blog. It also passes off as I myself offer tutorials.

The blog is an award winner. I am an award winner. So passing off tutorials on my blog (with people believing wrongly I am involved in your tutorials) generates business for you but not for me and uses my name, copyright and reputation to enhance your own.

    I don`t like it.
