I do not have auto-renew enabled, yet I was just billed for another year of domain mapping and registration. This seems criminal. I never gave you permission to access my bank account and make this withdrawal.

While it appears auto-renew was active (it could not continue to be active since the credit card on file expires before next year), I’m happy to refund this transaction and cancel the domain if you wish.
I’d like to apologize for the confusion and assure you that it is not our intention to auto-renew users who didn’t wish to continue using WordPress.com.
If canceled, we can’t undo the process and it can be several weeks before the domain name is available for purchase again and is possible someone else could purchase it before you’re able to, if your plan is to use the domain name again.
Again, my apologies and please let me know if you’d like to cancel the domain
