unauthorized charge from my account

    An unauthorized charge has been made by wordpress from my bank account. It seems to be for a premium account (99 US dollars) which I don’t have and have never had.
    No information email has been sent regarding a charge or if I’d like to upgrade to a premium account.
    What is going on?
    I expect to get a full refund.
    Please get back to me asap.

    Which upgrade, which site URL and which username account is this about, please?

    That is the cost of a Premium plan renewal.

    How many username accounts and sites do you have? Maybe you failed to cancel one and disable auto renew.

    Automattic Inc. https://automattic.com/ owns WordPress.com and other products like Akismet and VaultPress, etc. so this could be a charge related to one of them. It’s important to know that each charge is sent to the registered email address for each username account, so if you have more than one username account that could be confusing you. Also, if you have a wordpress.org account and a wordpress.com account that could be confusing you.

    The thing is I’m not sure since I have got no info about a renewal or upgrade on any of my accounts. I’ve got two accounts all with a .wordpress.com URL.
    I’ve got the following
    Username account: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    URL
    teamsandlegends.wordpress.com
    lfclegends.wordpress.com

    Username account: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
    URL
    lfcvaxjo.wordpress.com

    The two first have always been .wordpress.com urls
    The latter one used to be a .com URL but when it expired in feb or March I choose to cancel it and not to renew it. Though this only cost me 18 US dollars per year and would have continued to if I had chosen to renew for another year so it still doesn’t make sense that I’ve been charged for a premium upgrade.

    The @teamsandlegends account doesn’t own any upgrades on WordPress.com.

    The @lfcvaxjo account used to own a custom domain, but that upgrade only cost $18, and was cancelled on 29 April. There has been no $99 charge on either account.

    Do you have any other WordPress.com sites and/or usernames? Do you perhaps have another email address that might be connected to an account you’ve forgotten about?

    If I look up your existing payment info in our system, I also get a match for a recent Premium Plan renewal for the site, http://soccer4travel.wordpress.com/. Does that ring any bells?

    That domain (soccer4travel.com) was cancelled long ago there should not be a premium upgrade or anything going on there.

  • The domain, soccer4travel.com, was registered on 28 June 2016 along with a Premium Plan on the WordPress.com site, http://soccer4travel.wordpress.com/. Neither that plan nor that domain has ever been cancelled, and those upgrades renewed last week. Had you cancelled those upgrade you would have received a confirmation via email, and I can find no record that we ever sent such an email to you.

    If you no longer want those upgrades, please log in as the username account that owns that site and reply here, and I can cancel them and refund the most recent payment.

    That is very strange!
    But thank you that is very kind of you.
    So you want me to log in to the account and do what exactly? Judt to be clear so everything is done properly this time.

  • Just reply on this forum thread as the correct username and confirm you want to cancel the plan and the domain.

    Domain cancellations cannot be easily reversed, and once you cancel a domain it might not be possible for you to use it again in future, so we can only cancel a domain if requested by the username that owns it.

  • Perfect. I’ve cancelled those upgrades and refunded the $99 payment from 29 May. Refunds typically take about 10 business days to reflect on your account, but it can vary depending on your bank.
