Unauthorized user (?)
-
I keep getting random message from you guys about someone’s changing password to my website ?
1 – word press is so freaking hard to use I have not used it .
2 – Now this is really important, I have Not authorized anyone to use my site !
Please fix this problem ! -
Those mails are mostl of the time spam, certainly if they are coming from wordpress@…
If you don’t use wordpress.com at all, why don’t you close your account? -
Hi there,
The only password reset email we’ve recently sent you is one that was requested five minutes before you posted this forum thread. I assume that was you, trying to log into your account, correct?
If the email came from
(email visible only to moderators and staff), it’s not from us, but was being sent from your installation of the open source WordPress software on your hosting provider’s servers. That said, a password reset email doesn’t mean someone else has access to your site/account. It simply means someone entered your username or email address into the password reset form. This won’t allow them to access your account unless they also already have access to your email account. So as long as you’re sure no one else can access your email, your site/account is fine.
For extra peace of mind, consider enabling two-factor authentication on both your email and your WordPress.com account. On your self-hosted WordPress site you can also add 2FA to the login screen using a plugin. You can ask the WordPress.org community for advice on the best one to use here:
