Unauthorized user registered

  I received an email notification that a new user was registered on my website. Not sure what this meant. This is the email notification I received:

  ‘New user registration on your site _________:
  Username: test25475857
  Email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)’

  Then I received a follow-up email stating the following:
  ‘Password changed for user: test25475857’
  I am completely unaware of this and did not authorize this user.

  WP.com: Unknown
  Jetpack: Unknown
  Correct account: Unknown

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

  Hi there!

  You’ve posted to the free support forums for websites hosted here at WordPress.com. Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.

  Can you look and see if those users are under Users -> All Users in your dashboard? If so, those users are designated as the Subscriber role within your WordPress site. They’ve been added because you have the “anyone can register” option checked in your Settings -> General for “Membership”. Most websites don’t need memberships open, so you can disable that and delete any users you don’t recognize from the All Users list as well.
