Uncategorized – A Question

  Maybe it seems like a silly question, but is there a benefit to having “Uncategorized” clicked as one of your Posts Categories? Or should I go ahead and remove it from all my Posts?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Categorized is a useless category and using it simply means your posts get lost in a sea of other uncategorized posts and never get any flow of traffic from search engines. Create a default category that’s suitable one for your blog and replace the uncategorized category. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/#setting-the-default-category You don’t need to edit the posts because when you create a new default category and deleted uncategorized all the posts that were in it will be transferred automatically to your nee default category.

  You’re welcome. I do have a bit more advice if you want to hear it. Be cautious about the combined number of categories and tags you assign to any post. A typical new blogger mistake it is use to many. When it comes to Categories and Tags – less is more. Use the minimum number of combined relevant Categories and Tags on any given post and they won’t be missing from the global tag pages or buried way down in the SERPs (search engine page results).
