Uncrawlable Link – SEO Indexing
-
Hi, I have been having problems with this site. It had been months and I could not get my site indexed. I finally got it indexed for 1 day using google analytics and now its gone again, when I run google analytics report it says redirect error, when I run lighthouse report as suggested it says Uncrawlable Link
…
I am pretty sure this is for a carousel I no longer have on home page but I can’t find it in background to remove it even when looking at website in html editor.
I am ready to quit – please help.
p.s. I am a beginner…

Hi there, Analytics is available on a WordPress.com site with a Premium plan and higher. Do you mean you submitted your site map to Google Search Console? https://wordpress.com/support/site-verification-services/
AFAIK Lighthouse is for checking page loading time, but does not index your site.

Hi, yes Google search console indexed my site on Google but has now removed it due a redirect error. The redirect error is an uncrawlable link. I am pretty sure This link is to a carousel that I removed from my home page a week or so ago (only carousel I ever had on my site) so I don’t know where or why it is still there and causing problems. I cannot see it even when I change to HTML code editor.

P.s. I used Lighthouse to check site as per Google search console instructions and that is how I found uncrawlable link as the issue.

Interesting, Please share the exact URL on your site that is getting the redirect error.
In the long run, this might be something that you’ll need to resolve in Search Console and there are some community results here that might help you as well: https://support.google.com/webmasters/search?q=%22redirect+error%22&from_promoted_search=true

Do you mean the URL of page? https://thebentbookstudio.wordpress.com/
This is the site I requested indexing for and it worked for a day max after 24 hours. Now if you search for the bent book studio it doesn’t come up anymore. Google search console sent an email about this time saying it had found a redirect error and that lead to the uncrawlable link above.

Searching our forums for similar threads, I found this one https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/troubles-with-google-indexing/ which seems to suggest that if you know the issue was with the carousel and you removed it from your site, try resubmitting your sitemap.xml in Google Console. Otherwise, you’ll need to wait until Google recrawls your site.
Other than that, I’m out of suggestions.

Thanks just Jennifer. My sitemap was resubmitted after change so I think I have to give up too. And I rerequested indexing with no luck. If I can’t get it to work for free I may have to reconsider WordPress for when I upgrade. Thanks for your help. I have never had so much trouble with a website before.

Hello again, like I mentioned earlier, it’s possible that you’ll need to resolve this directly on Google Console. But, I just noticed that your last published post was at the beginning of October. Give it a try again after you publish a new post and see if that doesn’t shake something loose. Best wishes!
