Undeleting comments

  I got an abusive comment, and clicked on the IP address to run a Whois. I sent the Whois query to the abuser’s ISP, but I think I missed the IP address itself. I then–oops–deleted the comment. Is there a way to go back and undelete the comment so I can get the IP address back?

  If you did a whois, try your browser history to get back to it. I don’t think there is anyway staff can recover a deleted comment.

  No, AFAIK if it’s deleted then the comment is gone for good, unfortunately. If you go to Dashboard > Options > Discussion, you can change your settings so that you get a copy of all comments sent to your email; it’ll include the IP address, and that way if you delete a comment by accident you’ll still have a copy of it. If you don’t have that set already, though, then I think you’re out of luck.
