"Under Construction"?

Is there an option to set my wordpress.com site “under construction” while I work on it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can set your blog to Private at
Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Visible only to those you ask
But I don’t recommend that for your site – since once you set the blog back to visible to all – @raincoaster thinks the Private will slow down search engines after the blog is open to all – it take 4 to 6 weeks for search engines to index a new site – and that is only if you have content worth indexing

Leave the site open – you have basic functions nowConsider getting a custom domain name and mapping it to your blog – more class benreidcarpentry.com vs/ benreidcarpentry.wordpress.com.
Fix the header picture – it scaled or stretched – crop and size the picture on your PC to the size of the header before uploading it
Make some Posts – they search better than Pages – the Posts can be about a recent project that worked well
Put the Testimonials one testimonial per Post – use a custom menu to sort the Posts by Category to show only testimonials – make another Category for “Recent Projects” also in the Custom Menu

Thanks Auxclass for your opinion! I really do appreciate it and will totally be doing the posts/testimonials that you recommended. I would love your more in depth help to do that if you can?! Much obliged!

My suggestions will get you going in the right direction – don’t worry about errors easy to edit things here – use the Preview function on the Pages & Posts – find a friend to help with editing the words – a second person can help a lot – I do that often on my site – I also take a day or so for a new Post to age while I fiddle with the fine tune
If you have specific questions the forum is here – we tend not to do in depth recommendations on a blog as far as content and such – this is more of a Tech support place – most of us that help do glance at a blog – and sometimes pitch in a bit extra – in your case to help you get your site up an running
