  I need an “under construction” plugin installed.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  That capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs. For that type of functionality you’d need a self-hosted site running on a paid web hosting service.

  There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  Also note that if you wish to you can make you own page and set it as a static front page temporarily.

  Note that I never do this temporary change to private blog visibility or a static front page when I register a new blog because it takes weeks for search engines to index the content in WordPress.COM blogs, and I don’t want a private blog entry appearing in search engine results, which is exactly what will happen if you do this.

  I choose not to tell anyone what the URL is while I am setting up a new blog. As WordPress.com is a turnkey operation and as all blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template found on the live demo site, it doesn’t take long to set up a WordPress.COM blog. Those I help who have no blogging skills at all can have one up and running with 4 posts and 4 pages in 4 hours time.

  @tt – That’s the correct forum for people to request new plugins (/looks at sticky in the Ideas forum).

  Just pointing out that there is an actual guideline for this. :)

  That description made me LOL :D. There will be ball of string for me. I’m so happy to be singing again and doing all the things I gave up for blogging that I won’t be venturing deeply into the support docs. I’m busily backing away. By fall I’ll be history here as I will be fully retired and unpacking boxes of brand new wool, that have been waiting for me to pick up my needles.
