Under the main tab, "My Blogs" it isn't working like it has forever!

  • Unknown's avatar

Under http://wordpress.com/my-blogs/ there are all my blogs, and below it are the following (though they line up across the page)”
    Dashboard
    Stats
    Posts
    Pages
    Change Theme
    Customize
    Sharing
    Domains
It used to be that when you hit the “posts” tab, it took me to the separate page of all my blog posts, and from there I could work in my posts. Now it takes me to a really stupid page of my posts, not listed where I can just see them (that was such a nice shortcut and saved me two or three steps) but they appear almost as if they were on my blog — all the images, all the STUFF. PLEASE change it back. This is useless. Another useless page!

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

If you prefer the older Edit Posts Screen in your dashboard, you can use the “Dashboard” link under your blog. From there, you can click on “Posts” in the menu to get to that posts screen. If you’d like to get to that screen quickly, you may also want to bookmark that link in your browser.

    Hi Rachel,
The thing is, that what we do (if we actually blog) is work in Posts. I don’t care nearly as much about stats and dashboard but I am always going ot posts — working on a previous idea, so hitting “new post” is not what I want. Why make us do two clicks on the items that most of us use as often as “new post”? Instead someone decided to make the “posts” on that page a link to a listing of our posts, which actually is the same as going to our home page of our blog. What is the use? Why would ANYONE use this feature? Please bring back the old link ot have a quick link to the most used page, “Posts.
Yes, of course, you are right. I can forgo ever hitting the “W” and just have my pages bookmarked. That is what I used to do, just take matters into my own hands. I NEVER bothered to go to the “W” in the lefthand corner. I guess I can go back to that — don’t need reader, don’t need the other silly stuff. Thanks for the suggestion Rachel. I had nto thot to go back to before. I will.

    Hi there!

I understand your frustration with this change. There is still an Edit button on each post displayed, if that’s closer to what you’re looking for.

We don’t have any plans to revert the behavior of the Posts button from your blog list, but let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!

Shawn, that would work well if I was editing a post that was live. I realy think it helps to understand what a person is trying to do, how we actually use our blogs, if you want to be good admins. Yes, we can edit any live blog from hitting the edit button at the left.

    However,

      many

people write drafts and then refine them. I am one of those people. I understand that someone-in-charge has decided this little change is a Great Idea. I find it useless and repetitive. So I won’t be heading toward the “W” page again. I now will skip looking around and take of things on Firefox.

AND, the point is, have any of you actually looked at how the “posts” button under this page (https://wordpress.com/my-blogs/) looks, and played with it both ways? I think more and more people who work at places like wordpress and etsy and googles blog, just say, “hey, yes, let’s make a change!” without considering if it needs changing. This was one of those. FACT: people who blog go to their “Posts” pages (and if they are lucky, comments) more than they screw around with the other pages, widgets, etc. It is the heart of the whole blogging experience.

    Hello!

I’m sorry I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about editing published posts from the My Blogs page. If I understand correctly now, you’d rather all of your posts, published or drafted be in a single list rather separated as they are now?

AND, the point is, have any of you actually looked at how the “posts” button under this page (https://wordpress.com/my-blogs/) looks, and played with it both ways?

I can assure we have. Most of us here have a site, if not several, on WordPress.com and we release our new features to staff-only before releasing them to the rest of WordPress.com. All of us here at WordPress.com want to make your blogging experience the best it can be.

I know that some changes can be frustrating, but I want to assure you that we don’t just release updates for no reason.

Yes. This one is very frustrating, as the change is duplicated in 10 different ways, yet the way it was before is nowhere else.

Here is the thing: I have and manage a few blogs. It was wonderful when the “My Blogs” page “post” button under each separate blog took me to the actual “post” page. From there is could open what I wanted to work on. 2 clicks, and only one page to keep open. Now I have to open the blog itself, then go to the post page, and then open another blog, etc etc.

And still, I think that most changes made are just wacky, a way to ,ake it fresh, I suppose. And I am not opposed to change, but useless change for no reason, taking away a thing that worked well and substituting something that is already there — well, that a wacky useless change. I already am reverting to making this work for me, despite how you all want to do it. I just click 3x the amount I used to — so, no, I don’t like someone making me work harder when it worked just fine. There is no substitution for this that allows me fewer clicks. And that is the whole point — before we had direct access to: Dashboard, Stats, Posts, Pages, Change Theme, Customize, Sharing, Domains, New Post, and the Blog itself — Now Pages and Posts are a ridiculous go-to for what purpose? I can’t use it at all. I don’t need to see a summary of my pages or posts. I can visit the blog.

You won’t win me on this one. It’s a dumb change.
