Undo Domain Mapping
-
I already had a domain and server space..
I used the ‘domain mapping’ so I could keep my own domain name, but now I realise that Readyhosting already provides WordPress built in.. Plus, I still need to be able to access my site via ftp and send out links to clients for downloads.. I deleted my domain name from wordpress and re-directed the domain name servers back to readyhosting, but my site now won’t show up anywhere.. Does this take awhile?
Also, is the installed version of wordpress the same as the the hosted wordpress.com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. If you have just changed your DNS settings for your domain name, yes, it can take 24 to 72 hours for the changes to be effective. More details in this thread:

-
Some hosts have the latest WordPress.ORG software and others install way old versions and then you need to upgrade the software yourself.
-
Readyhosting installs 3.0.1 to my server space..
Do I still come to wordpress.com to create my posts?
-
No. The moment you go self-hosted, you’re on your own. Own dashboard, own software upgrades, own spam control… which means no more WordPress.com dashboard or support. Make sure you are prepared for this and that you are well-informed before making a big move.
-
After the move make friends and WordPress.ORG – You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/
