Undo domain mapping

    Hello,

I wanted to transfer my old website lets call it example.com to go to example.wordpress.com because all I had was the domain name and not a website set up.

I customised my wordpress site until I was happy with it.

I paid $13 for domain mapping, followed the steps, what I didn’t realise was that I was transferring example.wordpress.com to example.com rather than the other way round.

I cancelled the domain mapping and got a refund. Went to godaddy.com where I purchased my domain and tried forwarding my domain to example.wordpress.com. This still isn’t working.

Now when I type in example.wordpress.com I am directed to example.com which is just an unbuilt website.

Can someone please help. Basically all I want is when someone types in example.com it goes to example.wordpress.com.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I am seeing your site appear just fine at your _______.wordpress.com URL. If you are still being sent to the custom domain that you mapped, your browser may be looking at a cached version of the page. You can try either clearing your cache, using a different browser, or loading the page and then holding the shift key while you click reload/refresh.

As for the trouble with mapping, there are two steps for mapping. The first is to set up mapping on our end (which you did). The second is that you need to log into your account at your domain registrar and set the nameservers for that domain to point to WordPress.com. Did you do that second part? If you didn’t, you would have likely seen a parking page thrown up by your domain registrar that would have looked like a blank or un-built webpage.

Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.
