Undo mapping | change domain mapping

    Hi there,
I need to cancel my domain mapping from my old wordpress.com blog so that I can map my domain name to my new WordPress.com site.
    How do I do this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I can help you move that domain.

However, the issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner or admin of the pedalpower.de Domain Mapping upgrade.

So you must have ended up with a second WordPress.com account at some point. You will need to log into the other account in order to make that switch.

    Hi rootjosh,
thanks for your answer. In fact I am the owner of two sites: “pedalpowerberlin” and “pedalpowerpreview”. So could you please transfer the domain-mapping of “pedalpower.de” from “pedalpowerberlin” to my new site “pedalpowerpreview.wordpress.com”? This would be great.

    Thanks a lot

  • To clarify:

Any request to move upgrades MUST be made by the WordPress.com user account that owns that upgrade.

Hi there. I am the user that owns the upgrade.
So could you please change the mapping of
    “pedalpower.de” from our old
address “pedalpowerberlin” to our new one
“pedalpowerpreview”? And it would be cool,
if “pedalpower.de” would show up as address.
    Thanks!!!

  • So, we’re almost there.

However, the issue now is that user pedalpowerberlin is not an owner or admin of pedalpowerpreview.wordpress.com.

So, noleisegrimm can either add pedalpowerberlin as an admin, or pedalpowerberlin can transfer ownership of the Domain Mapping upgrade to noleisegrimm.

Cool. We did it. Now “pedalpowerberlin” is also admin. Can you do the transfer now?
    Thanks

  • Okay, I should have that all straightened out now. Can you take a look and let me know?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi. Unfortunately something went wrong: Now the domain “pedalpowerpreview.wordpress.com” brings you to “pedalpowerberlin.wordpress.com”. I wanted it the other way around.

Our new website is “pedalpowerpreview.wordpress.com”. My wish was, to transfer the domain-mapping of “pedalpower.de” to this new website.

Could you do this for me?
    Thanks

Wait a moment. I guess I only have to wait some hours. In the backend it looks fine. I will keep you informed.
    Thanks

  • So, it looks like pedalpower.de is not pointing to WordPress.com name servers yet:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/?host=pedalpower.de

Please go to your domain registrar’s site and log into the control panel. You will need to update the name servers as below:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

For more information, please visit the help documentation provided by the registrar and our support page:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

I suspect that is the crux of the issue.

sorry for the late answer- i have been traveling lately…

so the problem is, that if i change the nameserver at my domain registrar site, the mail server wont work any more.

    What should i do?
    I am very confused…

    high,
we changed the nameserversers, but it still wont work… :(
    any help?

    Please!

  • The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s name servers to the following values:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.

If you still want to map your domain using A records, please be sure to create two records using these IP addresses:

    192.0.78.25

    192.0.78.24
