Unencrypted element (such as images)
-
Hi there,
I can’t seem to add any header images. The photos don’t show and they’re being replaced by a broken image logo.
I have no idea what FTP or what my hosting provider is, even though those seem to be the keys to solving this issue.
Really have no idea how to go about getting images to work on my blog.
Seeking help!

This is a WordPress.COM hosted blog http://jointhearena.wordpress.com/ There is no FTP access to it and you cannot install plugins or third party themes.
Your detailed theme description page is found here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyfourteen/
The header image size is 1260 wide and 240 high.

I don’t understand what this means: There is no FTP access to it and you cannot install plugins or third party themes.
I’m trying to upload jpeg images into the header. Going into customize, uploading, but the images aren’t uploading. They just aren’t appearing in the library. There’s a broken image icon instead.

And what is the filename of the image you are trying to upload? Often, this happens because there’s some punctuation or something in the filename.

There are just grey boxes in place of actual images.
In the customise page there’s an orange triangle with an exclamation mark saying: This website does not supply identity information.
This website contains interactive content that isn’t encrypted (such as scripts). Other people can view your information or modify the website’s behaviour.
That’s precisely it though, I’m trying to modify it, but I’m not being allowed to.
The photos just aren’t appearing.

I see the header image okay. How many have you uploaded? What browser and version are you using to look at the images? We sometimes have a case where certain ISPs block our image servers so most people can see your images, but some people, using certain companies to get online, cannot.

I’m using Firefox and it’s not letting me see any of the images I’m uploading.
“Firefox has blocked content that isn’t secure.”
I can see the header image on my phone though.

That’s interesting. I’d best flag this for staff attention, because if FF is broadly classifying WP.com images as unsafe, they need to know it. What VERSION of FF are you using?

Hi there,
I’m very sorry for the trouble with this. We’re making some improvements that likely caused this bug you ran into, but it should be fixed now. If you remove the images that you added just before getting these errors and re-add them, it should resolve the issue on your site.
If you continue to run into errors, please let me know and I can keep investigating this for you.
