Unexpected adverts on my blog
-
Hi I have a shared hosted website with wordpress.com and I’ve just gone onto it before and noticed that there are adverts on there. I have the free plan which doesn’t allow me to advertise on my site so I’m a bit confused as to why there are adverts on there?
Thanks,
James
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello fellow James,
The blog http://clewlowfitness2017.wordpress.com/ is currently deleted, so I can’t review your concern.
Is this the site or is it a different url?

It is there now!
Could you point to where the adverts are being posted? You can post a direct link or a screenshot.
As well, while you’re not allowed to post advertisements, WordPress does reserve the right to do so according to this page – https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

I cant screenshot the pictures on here but its just on my home page. Yeah I think it’s just WordPress putting them on I’ve read why they do it but just wanted to double check. How long will they be there?

Hi there, as the Terms of Service mentions,
Advertisements. Automattic reserves the right to display advertisements on your blog unless you have purchased an Ad-free Upgrade or a VIP Service account.
Ads on free sites help keep the services in a free plan free, but they are limited in scope, usually shown to non-logged in users arriving from search engine returns.
If you want to monetize your site, you have a few options, which are listed in this support guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/
Let us know if you have any other question about this.

I am not viewing any ads while logged in or out of WordPress on your homepage.
As the https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/ page indicates, WordPress sometimes shows ads and is dependant on the user’s location, browser history, etc.
