  • Hello there,

This sounds like a recent issue we’re experiencing and looking to get fixed.

Can you tell us what browser and operating system you’re working on please?

Lastly, can you tell us if clearing the browser cache solves this issue:

    Many thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. I tried writing in the title of the post rather than copying and pasting as usual, and this seemed to solve the problem. Was able to save as normal after that. Strange, but it has fixed the issue for now.

Will let you know if it happens again.

    Many thanks.

  • Great, glad that resolved your issue.

Out of curiosity, are you copying from Microsoft Word or from an email or another website possibly?

Those sources can include code (that is invisible to you) which can cause issues with any website. So it’s not an issue that is specific to WordPress exactly since it happens on other website platforms.

You can usually get around this by first pasting the text into a notepad or other “plain text” notes app on your computer, then copy a second time from the plain text document to your WordPress site. There is also a paste as plain text option in the classic editor and/or classic block which you can use instead to remove any of the invisible formatting that leads to issues like this. https://wordpress.com/support/microsoft-word/#plain-text

    Hope this helps!
