Unfollowing a blog

Add topic to favorites
I’m having trouble unfollowing a blog. It’s not a big issue — I can just ignore the posts I don’t want to read, but I wonder why it’s not working. I click “Unfollow” and it seems to work, but then I receive posts again. I’ve also tried unsubscribing from my Dashboard.

Here are brief instructions for unsubscribing
1. click the “unsubscribe” link on the emails of the posts at the very bottom of the emails.
2. go here > http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/ and locate this:
“Get new posts by email” in the drop-down menu have these choices:
never
instantly
daily
weekly
3. click the “x” next to any blog there to unfollow it and no longer receive posts in the Reader or by email.

Thank you. I don’t get the posts by email (never have), only by reader. When “unfollowing” by reader didn’t work, I tried by subscription, too. It still didn’t work.

P.S. This may sound silly but have you tried going to the blog you want to unfollow and clicking the link on your Admin bar to do that?

I have the same problem! I tried repeatedly today to unfollow a blog that posts too much for my liking and makes it impossible for me to read my Reader, and it doesn’t work.

I’ve been having trouble with the unfollow button on blog pages too. It acts like it worked, but then it’s back to “Following” on a refresh.

Exactly. I’ve also tried unfollowing though the subscription page as indicated in the comments above, but it didn’t work either.
(at least now I do remember following the blog, so it’s not a spammer, but I didn’t realize they posted so much).

@hippiecahier, @fjva, @vaguereference, and @seasweetie — Sorry for the delay. If you haven’t yet, can you try unfollowing a blog in Google Chrome? (I wasn’t able to reproduce this in Google Chrome 21.0.1180.89 when unfollowing a blog from Edit List in the Reader tab.)

It always worked for me in the edit tab. Only the on-blog toolbar button gave me trouble. I’m using Chrome 21.0.1180.89

@vaguereference — Thanks for following up with me. To confirm, when you click the “Unfollow” button when viewing the blog, then refresh the blog, it displays “Following” again?

Do you get the same result when trying this in Mozilla Firefox 15.0.1?

Correct. It flips to “Follow” after clicking it, but it’s back to “Following” after the refresh. And I’m seeing the same problem in Firefox 15.0.1.
