Unified Navigation (Delete a site)

    I am not sure whether this is on topic as part of unified navigation, but here goes.

    I wanted to delete one of my sites. I thought that I should go to Settings by going to the admin panel in the site and scrolling down to Settings/General and that I would see the option to delete the blog. But no, the option to delete the site does not appear there. In fact, as I learned from Support – the place to go is

    wordpress.com/settings/general/yoursite.wordpress.com

    And then you will see the option to delete the site.

    I looked in the backend, wondering how I would have found this URL had I not asked Support – and I cannot see a route in.

    I am not sure, but I think the Delete Site instruction page from WP.com is out of date.

    Thanks – Once Support showed me where to look, I was able to delete the site.

    My reason for posting about the experience here is that had I not asked Support where to look, I don’t think I would have known how to get there.

    I mention it because it seems to concern the unified navigation experience.

    Hey there,

    The delete site instruction on the support page is not out of date, but you are absolutely correct that this is in relation to the unified navigation experience.

    If you have the advanced dashboard page setting on, you will not see the interface that is shown on the support page. You’ll have to disable the setting and then follow the instructions to delete the page.

    But, thank you for bringing this up. At the very least, we need to note on the support page that you need to disable the setting in order to delete a site under your account. I’ll discuss this internally and see what we can do to provide an update.

    staff-doublebassd – I posted this in the unified navigation forum thread, but perhaps it’s worthwhile mentioning here as well:

    AFAIK the “Delete Site” link that was in the WP Admin Tools dashboard redirected to the Settings page in Calypso, but now it’s just a “the page requested does not exist” error: /wp-admin/tools.php?page=delete-blog

    Perhaps it would be possible to bring back that particular link in WP Admin?
