Unique design for each page – is this possible?
-
Hi everyone,
I have a small project on the go, and I really want to use wordpress for the CMS. The site I am building requires a slightly different design/layout for certain pages within the site. Can I do this using wordpress? At the moment I have only experienced using wordpress for a fixed design that remains the same throughout the whole site.
If any of you have an idea on how to do this, please get in touch as soon as possible!
Thanks for your time.

As far as I know: Every page is exactly the same, per the theme, and cannot be altered (in WP.com).
Here’s a thought: possibly you could add a border design for top of certain pages, which would send instant message ‘this is topic X’ page
and leave others blank. I should think you could add via cut/paste. If you switch to rich text editor: maybe change font color?PS if you can wait, Drmike will be here soon, he’s a genius; if it can be done, he’ll tell you how; if he says it cannot or anything else: Believe him. (I look forward to his reply also!)

Super, thanks for the reply. I look forward to hearing from him :)
Unfortunatley it’s not a case of just changing colours, the whole layout really needs to change. Only the header and nav will remain the same, and in the same location.
Having thought about it a little more, it may be possible to actually put the html changes into the input ‘post’ text box. But this could look complicated when my client comes to make any changes?
I really hope it can be done, in a not so complicated way. If not, does anyone have any suggestions for a different free CMS that I could use to do the job? Maybe Joomla?

It may be important to note that the site will be hosted on my own server. Not through wordpress.com

In that case, you will need to head over to wordpress.org and their support. As explained in the sticky at the top of the forum,
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700&page&replies=1
we are running on different software. -
