Universal complaint about the comment system that WordPress.com uses
-
Dear Sirs,
On behalf of all new bloggers on the Internet and progress for them, I would like to file a complaint about your miserable commenting system.
Most of the times my comments on these new blogs get lost, or won’t be accepted. This is not very encouraging for any new blogger.
Please reinstate the comment system as used in the earlier days with name, mailaddress, website and comment labels and fields, because it did work. As present situation in the comment system is most disheartening.
Kind regards,
Irene a.k.a. Pix

Please reinstate the comment system as used in the earlier days with name, mailaddress, website and comment labels and fields, because it did work.
The comment system remains exactly what you describe. It has not changed.
-
It did in fact change in lay-out. The way it is presented.
And why are all my comments getting lost in the process. Is this a way to challenge people to buy your expensive additions.

Nope, you wrong. Log out and go to my blog and see the comment boxes in the posts/pages.
Is this a way to challenge people to buy your expensive additions.
I’m volunteer in the forums. I don’t know what is “our expensive additions”.
-
Excuse me, but I do blog since way back in 2002. Since Jetpack has a new presentation of the comment system.
And I mean that you encourage people to buy more expensive domain names and hosting when elsewhere it is much cheaper and more sophisticated.

Do you mean the comments you leave on other people’s blogs get lost or are for some other reason not published? Or do you mean you are having trouble with getting comments to show on your own site?
-
@Lizthefair: Obviously when I leave comments on other people’s blogs they get lost and are for some reason never published. That’s what I mean, yes.

Blog owners have control over which comments get published on their sites and which do not. So it could be your comments are simply not being approved. It could also be your comments are getting stuck in a spam filter. If there is a site you are commenting on and the blog owner says she/he isn’t receiving your comments, let me know and I’ll investigate further.
-
Nope @LizTheFair: it goes wrong submitting the comment(s). So before it gets to any spambox, or before approval. In other words they got lost and quite too often. :-(
-
it goes wrong submitting the comment(s).
How does it “go wrong” could you send me a screenshot of the error message, or other problem you are seeing? Here are instructions for making a screenshot if you need them
-
Nope. Nothing there to see. Except that the comments do not appear even where I have commented before. It just won’t submit.
The point is that most people do not want to take the time to comment twice or more than that because there appears to be a flaw in the comment system…
-
So there is denitely something wrong with the Jetpack commenting submit button. :-) Or the server is having a temporary hick-up.
But always a server hick up at the moment I comment? I do doubt that.

What’s the URL of the site you are having trouble with? Since it’s not your site, my options for helping you are limited, but I’m happy to take a look.

I’m sorry but we cannot provide accurate answers and assistance to anyone who cannot provide an example of a URL that illustrates exactly what you refer to.
Except that the comments do not appear even where I have commented before. It just won’t submit.
That sounds like either a browser related error of a connectivity error to me. If it is not one of those two then perhaps the site(s) you refer to have been set up not to accept comments without site registration, and if that’s the case then the sites are not hosted by WordPress.COM.

Where is the evidence of this please? I see no other threads here in these support forums that refer to this issue on blogs that we can verify as being hosted by WordPress.COM. I have answered questions here for 9 years now and I searched and did not come up with any other complaints like this one.

Ah. Your site mightymusings.nl is not hosted by WordPress.com
You keep mentioning jetpack comments.
This makes it even more critical for Staff to understand what sites you are trying to leave comments on. So, yes, please. If you wish to try and resolve this issue, please answer @lizthefair’s questions to you.
