Universal Feed Vaidator Errors
-
There seems to be a universal feed error in WordPress.COM blogs – timethief posted a link showing problems in another blog so for jokes I checked my site and found an error:
line 28, column 174: Unregistered link relationship: search [help]
… Tricks & Thoughts from Captnmike” />
<atom:link rel=”search” type=”application/opensearchdescription+xml” href=”http://captnmike.com/osd.xml” title=”Boating Safety Tips, Tricks & Thoughts from Captnmike” />
I checked several other blogs and found the exact same error
http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcaptnmike.com%2Ffeed
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi auxclass, in fact, the feed validator is out of date as search is a valid atom link relationship:
http://www.iana.org/assignments/link-relations/link-relations.xml
http://www.opensearch.org/Specifications/OpenSearch/1.1#Autodiscovery_in_RSS.2FAtomSo there’s no need to worry about that message in the feed validator. If you run across any problems related to this, let me know and I can look into it. Cheers! :)

Thanks for the update – I don’t follow the code stuff much and found the same flag on several blogs and it made me wonder about it, thought that the same error on every blog was quite odd but it would not have been the first time an error for many sites got past the developers – so just wanted to be sure it was not over looked
thanks for checking & answering

Seeing the same error on every blog is definitely a red flag — thanks for bringing it up!

I came across this link in another forum and when I tried it with my posts url there were an incredible number of errors on lines that didn’t even exist. My posts have stopped showing in google. Need help please. http://validator.w3.org/ (http://poetrycottage.wordpress.com)

@ cottageonstrawberry, this is actually a different error than the one discussed in this thread. Can you please start a new thread about this issue so we can keep track of it? Thanks!
Because the original topic has been resolved, I am closing this thread.
