Unknown Author & Generic WordPress Logo in iTunes Podcast
-
After submitting my video podcasts using video press to iTunes, a generic wordpress logo shows up as the artwork and the author says unknown. Please help me fix this.

Is http://podcast.cordellparvin.com/ the blog with the problem? Also, are you using Feedburner or any other third-party feed service?

Yes, that is the blog with the problem. No we are not using any other service. According to videopress it wasn’t needed….?

Hi there!
You can certainly feed your WordPress.com video podcast to iTunes without using Feedburner – we just needed to check how you set everything up initially.
The main issue is that while our RSS feed tags are very compatible with the iTunes-specific tags required to be included in iTunes, there are two tags that iTunes uses that are not a part of WordPress.com RSS feeds:
<itunes:author> <itunes:image>As you can see, the lack of the itunes:author tag is causing the “unknown” in your iTunes listing. The lack of a specific album art image for itunes:image makes iTunes default to an image from the root domain – in this case, WordPress.com. Unfortunately at this time, there’s no way to add these items to your site’s feed.
We are looking into adding this added compatibility with iTunes to WordPress.com, but we currently don’t have a time frame when this will occur.
I hope that clarifies things. Let me know if you have any questions.
