Unknown user trackback comments on my site
-
I am getting a few request for trackback on my website. They are posting comments on product pages with pingbacks to their site. They even asked if I would allow them to incorporate a 1 way link. They did not provide a valid URL to their site.
I have not approved any of these comments, just wondering if I am in any danger. -
Hi there,
I do not see any trackbacks on monitechdisplays.wordpress.com when I check on our end.
Is it possible you are referring to a site under a different login? If so, what is the URL of the site you are needing help with? Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

Hey Jerry,
Thank you for writing back.
Maybe I should not tell you that the domain I am talking about is hosted by Go Daddy. But it seems like you know your way around a “whois” command, so you’d prolly find out anyway.
I am talking about monitech.com which is a high ranking site with regards to industrial machinery controller displays. The headers in the comments are originating in UK, but I saw a .cn domain mentioned in there (which scares me to death!) Here is a copy:
Author: ORojhz (IP address: 89.37.66.247, 247.66.37.89.baremetal.zare.com)
Email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
URL: http://www.Y1LXvt.cn
Each comment they sent (3 in total) has a different IP with a different email address (likely spoofed) all from @msn addresses. I did not approve them and I moved them in the trash right now, but I am thinking this dude’s intentions are not at all Honorable. Your thoughts please.
Thank you and take care,
Hess. -
Hi Hess, we can’t really check out the back end or logs for a site that isn’t hosted on our servers.
Generally speaking, you’re totally fine to ignore any trackbacks that don’t make sense for your site. Getting them won’t do you any harm, though it’s possible they’re trying to spam you. If you’d like, you can disable them altogether.
