Hi Ashley, Thanks so much for letting us know you’re experiencing this problem. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Several domains are currently having the same unlocking issue. Our developers are working to remedy the situation as soon as possible. I’ll let you know when they have solution. Thanks very much.

Is there any other way to transfer the name? Or can someone from wordpress.com just unlocked the domain?

  • Unknown's avatar

I wish we could. I’d do that for you in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, the group that manages our domains needs to fix the bug, so we can trigger the unlocking function.

Is it possible to cancel the domain name then register it at Godaddy?

  • Unknown's avatar

The problem with canceling your domain registration is it means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.

Our domain management company has told us the problem should be resolved in full very soon. They were testing a fix for their bug this afternoon, and were confident in its quick resolution once the solution is confirmed. It’s worth attempting again this evening, even before we receive confirmation from the company.

I know this is a pain right now, and if you’re hoping to move your domain so you can use it with another website, other than a WordPress.com-hosted site, you can update the name servers here at WordPress.com to point to another hosting provider by following this guide:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

I am more than happy to assist with this once you retrieve the DNS information from your new web host.

I wish I could do more — let me know what happens once you attempt the transfer again. If time is of the essence, we can take the name server adjustment route.

    Thanks much.

    Hi,

I’m still experiencing problems with transferring the domain over has the issue been fixed yet?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Ashley,

Yes, this process has been resolved. Could you confirm for me which of your domains you want to transfer and I can email your EPP code?

    Thanks much!

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks for the response. ashkowalewski.com the issue I am having is that I can not seem to unlock the domain to be able to transfer it.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hey Ashley, I unlocked the domain ashkowalewski.com for you. An email has been sent to the Domain Registrant’s contact email address containing the Domain Transfer Code. If you don’t receive the email shortly, please check your spam folder.
Let me know how this all goes for you. Thanks much!

    Hi,
Thanks for your help. I see that the domain is now unlocked and when I click “accept transfer” it says it will send me a conformation email but I never received one. I’ve tried it several times and I still haven’t received it. I also checked my junk/spam email and it wasn’t in there either.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

    Hey Ashley,

That’s certainly frustrating! I’d like to try this process one last time starting with the EPP code:

Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar

Could you email the EPP code again and input it at the new registrar to start the transfer process? I believe the issue here is that the EPP code expired, which is causing the transfer to fail.
