unlocking my privacy settings without my permission?

I received an email from your site this morning warning me that I had ‘accidently’ set my site to private and that you had ‘fixed’ it for me.
This site is a work in progress. It will eventually be made available on a very limited basis to supplement a 16-week semester course.
No one should be able to see it now. It is incomplete, it is a rough draft, it is not anything I’d want someone to see in its current state.
If this is going to be a recurring issue, where WordPress insists on making rough drafts available through google searches, please let me know now so I can cut my losses, delete the page, and find a better means of creating online work.

the site is private now when I visit it – sometimes the staff make software changes and there is a side effect – this is the first time I have seen a private site issue in the forum

I have flagged this for the staff to help also

  • This was the result of an unfortunate programming bug.

The overwhelming majority of sites dealing with the bug were those who actually wanted the site to be public. We sent out the notification so that anyone who did not want their site public could quickly set the correct privacy setting.

    Our apologies for any trouble.
