Unmap Domain from WordPress.com and Redirect to WordPress Installation
-
Hi,
My understanding is that this is an issue that requires staff assistance.
My website is currently located at pjfoxwrites.wordpress.com, to which the domain pjfoxwrites.com is mapped.
I’ve just finished building a new website on the privately hosted WordPress.org software, which is currently located on a temporary domain through GoDaddy.
I would like to (1) assign pjfoxwrites.com to that new site, and (2) redirect my WordPress.com URL (pjfoxwrites.wordpress.com) to the new site at the now-remapped domain (pjfoxwrites.com).
I’ve already assigned the pjfoxwrites.com domain through GoDaddy, but nothing has changed yet. Does anything need to be done through WordPress.com to assist with this?
And can a staff member help with the redirect?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Sorry for the late reply. This thread was never flagged for our attention and we only saw it now.
I can see your self-hosted site at your domain now, so most likely the name servers were still updating when you posted here. If the domain isn’t showing your site yet, please try clearing your browser cache.
To redirect traffic from the WordPress.com site to the new site, you need the site redirect upgrade. You can cancel the Premium Plan and domain mapping you currently have on the site via the Purchases page, or you can just let those expire:
https://wordpress.com/purchases/
Then you can add a site redirect upgrade via this link:
https://wordpress.com/domains/add/site-redirect/
Let me know if you have any questions.
