Unmap domain ( refund)

  • Unknown's avatar

Hey guys! So I recently bought my first domain and thought I could map it with you. Sadly this didn’t work out. My domain (vegandur.com) which I bought off of godaddy doesn’t seem to connect with wordpress, I did everything I could, fixed the DNS, the nameservers, and forwarding etc. I even called customer service and they couldn’t help me either. I payed $13 to map my domain and it didn’t work. I would like my domain unmapped and a refund please (I bought the mapping two days ago). I’m very disappointed this didn’t work out (since I’m a huge fan of wordpress) but simply put it’s too much hassle for nothing.

    Best Regards,
    Maria

What you report is very strange because mapping to an existing domain is done every day by many people.

vegandur.com is parked for FREE, courtesy of GoDaddy.com.

    I found the problem.

    Non-WordPress.com Nameservers
Although vegandur.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.

We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Your name servers are as follows:

    NS09.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS10.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

If you have access to change the nameservers for this domain, please remove all nameservers not on the required list above.

I know what the problem is, I did that it didn’t work I removed it. I am unhappy with the service provided seeing as it doesn’t work. So if someone could please help me remove the mapping so that I can move it to a different hosting I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Hi @micalilu,

I’ve removed and refunded the upgrade for you. If you’d like, though, we’d be happy to help you try again. The domain was not pointed here at our nameservers, or if it was, you may have changed it back before it had a chance to take effect.

Normally it takes about 4-6 hours for your computer to “forget” that the domain was pointed to GoDaddy. So if you pointed it here, checked right away, then pointed it back to GoDaddy again, you likely never had a chance to see it working. You would need that setting and mapping for it to work.

Let me know if you’d like to give that a try, because we’d love to have you host here. :) Cheers!
