Unmapping Site
-
Hello – I have my custom domain pancakestacker.com mapped to my wordpress domain. I would like to unmap it, so that I can use the domain on a different hosting website. I canceled my mapping subscription, but am unsure of what next steps to take, so I can use my domain somewhere else.
Thanks so much!

Hello,
It looks like pancakestacker.com is registered with GoDaddy and pointing to WordPress.com hosting. To have the domain point elsewhere, update the name servers at GoDaddy (here’s the support page) using the information provided by your new host. -
Thank you! I’m actually have trouble changing the name server on WordPress. It won’t let me change it on my GoDaddy account, as it says the name serves are “handled by WordPress.” Do you know a way to trouble shoot this? I’m wondering if it’s something I need to do on my WordPress account, but can’t quite figure it out. If I delete my WordPress account all together, will that help at all?

Hi there,
No need to delete your WordPress account! Since pancakestacker.com is both registered and hosted over at Go Daddy, you’ll only be able to update the nameservers on their end. I just removed the mapping subscription under your account, so everything is good to go on this end.
Here is the instructions on how to update the nameservers for Go Daddy:
https://www.godaddy.com/help/set-nameservers-for-domains-hosted-and-registered-with-us-12316
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
