Unparking the Domain
-
Hi, I was trying to create a blog with WordPress, but have ultimately decided to use a different website building service. I am trying to get the domain released to use elsewhere after cancelling and it here, but there is no current ETA on when it will no longer be ‘parked’. Is this something you can advise on? Thank you

Hi! We don’t have a “set” time that we know of for domains to be released when they’re cancelled soon after registration. Generally what we can anticipate is that when a domain is cancelled shortly after being registered, we do have 5 days in which to restore it if you want it back. There’s more information about that here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/cancel-refund-a-domain/As it is, we can’t guarantee when it’ll become available; there isn’t really a manual “release” option as such for cancelled domains.
I see that your domain was cancelled the same day as it was purchased; so it’s still within that 5-day restoration period. That means we can restore it (so you can use it with another platform), but the registration fee would need to be re-paid as you were issued a full refund when you cancelled.
In case you’d rather restore the domain directly in order to start using it with another platform, I’ve prepared a payment form which was sent directly to you by email – please do check your spam folder if it’s not in your inbox. If you would like us to go ahead and restore the domain, please do submit the payment and let us know as soon as possible.
With the domain restored, you’d be able to change the domain’s name servers in order to use it with another hosting platform:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/Once the domain is over 60 days old (per the rules from https://icann.org who are the authority for domain names), you’d be able to transfer the registration too:
