Unpublish

I somehow published my blog and it is nowhere near ready to be published. How can I unpublish it? Or if I delete it could I go back in another time and remake my blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

I see that now your blog is private. Is that the solution you were looking for? One alternative is to create a simple “This site is under construction…” page. Let me know if you’re interested in doing that.

Yes, it would be great if I could do that. It is only on private because it is not ready.

You can create a new page with the head title “The site is under construction” and then set that page as your home page.

Once you create the page you can go to My Site > Themes > Customize > Front page, change the setting to “A static page” and under “Front page” select the “under construction” page you created. This however will still leave the top and the bottom of the page (and the right/left menu, if you have one) visible, so perhaps leaving it as private is a better option.

I don’t think there’s a way to create an “under construction” page that will stand by itself (without the header and footer of the site). I’ve tagged the staff — maybe they will know.

    I hope this helps!

Hi there, if your site is “under construction” and you also want to keep it from being indexed by search engines until you launch, the only way to do so is to keep your site visibility Private, as is mentioned by easypeasy77.

If you change your site visibility to Public, create a static front page and other internal pages, there is a chance that those will be indexed by search engines even before you are ready to launch.

The other option, to allow human visitors and block search engines only works if the search robot adheres to the settings in the robots.txt of your site.

On a separate note, instead of a Private site, I now see :

    ravishingwanderlust.wordpress.com is no longer available.

The authors have deleted this site.

Unfortunately once deleted, neither the site content nor the site address can be recovered. You will need to set up a new site at a new address and can do so following these guidelines: https://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/#adding-a-new-site-or-blog-to-an-existing-account
