Unpublish site

  Hello there,

  I am in the process of building my blog. I published it so I can see what it looks like, but I start to get traffic very quickly. Can I unpublish it for now and republish when I am ready to?

  Please help.

  Hey there,
  You can just change the status of the page from published to draft or pending.

  However, once a page is published and recognized by google, it may take some time before it stops turning up in their searches.

  If your page is still online, it will be findable on search engines
  So if you want it offline, de-active the entire site.

  @sophiags On WordPressdotcom, you can make your entire site’s visibility Private until you are ready to share it with the world.
