Unpublishing a published post

I was wondering if you can have an option where you can decide whether you want to unpublish an article that has been published?

Reason: Sometimes we add an article and some viewers have read it. Then for some reason or other, we may have to take the post offline for quite sometime. Is there a way to do this? Also when we delete a post and some viewers have read it, we won’t know which article it is in the Blog Stats since there is only a number ot “blank” attached to the title.

    Thanks

    Sicerely,

You can always change the datestamp to something in the upcoming year, or something in the past. If you put it in the past, it’ll be at the very beginning of your blog, if you put it in the the future, it’ll vanish until that time.

The blog stats only hold onto things for 24 hours in the normal display, 30 days in the extended display.

Oh please, spammer. Could you not take time this evening away from spamming technical support forums to go add to your goat porn collection? Billy’s feeling left out.

Jeyanthy, sorry about lowering the tone. It’s Mark’s fault: he said I could abuse spammers.

Just figured a better way, You could just “Protect” it!

Anyway, is it possible at all to relink back to a deleted post with the Id that displayed it originally.

    Thanks

    Sincerely,

Not if it’s been deleted. It’s pretty much gone except in cached versions at Google, Yahoo, etc.

Yes, if you know a post is going to be contentious, you can password-protect it, but it will still be visible on those cached versions if you published it normally to start with. You can check it for yourself. Once it’s gone out live, it’s available to those who know where to look for it.

To prevent that, password-protect the posts you want to control. Most but not all blog searches respect that.

If you click on “Edit” for the post in question, then look to the side, there is a list with the title of “Post status,” and under that there are options for “Published, Pending Review, Draft,” or “Private.” You can click “Draft” and it will take it off your blog and save it as one of your drafts. If you do ever decide to republish it, though, it will publish back on the original date of publication (at least that happened to me one time) unless you change the date stamp as raincoaster suggested (which I hadn’t thought of — I ended up copying it, deleting that post, them making a new one so it would show up on the current date).

It will still show up in its original form and date on feed aggregators, though.
