Unpublishing a site
-
How do I unpublish my site? I don’t want it deleted forever – I just want it on ‘hold’ in case I want to bring back to life later on.
The site I need help with is stateofstamina.com. It is not hosted by WordPress.com, but it is connected with Jetpack.

Hi there,
Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We’re only able to help with sites hosted on our servers at WordPress.com.
Please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums
The only way I can think of to do this is to hide your site behind a maintenance mode plugin, but you’ll need to continue paying your hosting provider for the site to do that – the moment you stop paying for hosting, your hosting provider will delete the site’s files from their servers.
The other option is to get a download of your entire site from your host that you can keep on your own computer, which you can then later upload to a new host if/when you want to bring the site back online. But that can get tricky if the version of WordPress your site had when you got the backup has fallen a few versions behind what WordPress will be by the time you try to restore that.
